AlphaLoan Mortgage Group protects personal service as it grows

Growing without making clients feel like a number
AlphaLoan Mortgage Group marked 20 years in mortgage broking in 2026. Founder Graeme Vimpani built the business around a simple belief: Australians need choice and professional guidance when making one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives.
That personal approach still drives the business. Graeme describes AlphaLoan as being in the relationship business, specialising in finance. Around 99% of its work comes from repeat clients, word of mouth and referrals. The team’s responsiveness and care have a direct effect on future business.
Behind that service is a four-person team. Graeme works with an experienced loan processing manager in Melbourne and two offshore assistants who support pricing, valuations, research, administration and marketing. Every person needs to see where a file is up to, what remains outstanding and what needs to happen next.
The previous technology they used made that harder. Graeme could see what a stronger system might do, but running it without the right support was unrealistic while advising clients and managing the business. Moving aggregators was a difficult decision because he valued the relationships he had built. The technology gap eventually became too important to ignore.
“When I saw Salestrekker, my jaw literally hit the ground. I could see how it would make my job easier and give us consistency across the business,” Graeme Vimpani, Director and Finance Manager, AlphaLoan Mortgage Group.
Giving the whole team a clear view of every file
Technology became the deciding factor in AlphaLoan’s move to new aggregator, SFG. In a recent SFG podcast interview, Graeme’s answer to what brought AlphaLoan to the aggregator was direct: “Technology, 100%.” SFGconnect 2.0, powered by Salestrekker, gave the team the structure and support it needed.
AlphaLoan now uses workflows, checklists, tasks and automations to manage work from submission to settlement. When a file moves to the next stage, the relevant checklist appears. Emails, messages, tasks and reminders can be triggered without relying on someone to remember each action.
That gives Graeme and his support team a shared view of progress. They can quickly see which documents are outstanding, who owns the next task and where a client needs an update. Pre-approval workflows also trigger follow-up after 30, 60 and 90 days, helping the team stay in contact when a client is still preparing to buy.
“The automations Salestrekker 2.0 provide are number one. The checklists, tasks and workflow mean we can see at a glance where every file is up to and what is still outstanding,” he said.
Graeme uses Interview Mode during client meetings because he wants the conversation to remain personal. Instead of asking a client to complete everything alone before speaking with him, he shares his screen and captures the key information with them in around five minutes. The support team can then complete the detail behind the scenes.
He is taking the same practical approach to AI. Graeme is open to tools that improve staff work, but wants people to retain ownership of advice and compliance commentary. For him, technology should support judgement and careful review.
Hours saved while relationships stay personal
The impact was visible from the first week. Under AlphaLoan’s previous process, preparing one file could take an offshore team member four or five hours. With Salestrekker, the first comparable file was ready in 45 minutes. The team member called Graeme to ask what she should do next because the work had finished far sooner than expected.
“A file that used to take four or five hours was done in 45 minutes. We can write a lot more in much less time because the process is automated,” continued Graeme.
That time saving gives AlphaLoan more capacity without changing what clients value about the business. Graeme can spend more time explaining options, reviewing a client’s position and giving them confidence about the decision ahead. His team can progress the administration with a clear record of the next step.
The same structure supports compliance. Checklists make required actions visible and create a more consistent file record. AlphaLoan recently completed an audit with only minor items to tidy up. Graeme sees that discipline as essential as regulatory expectations continue to increase.
“People come to brokers, not platforms. Salestrekker 2.0 helps us handle the process efficiently while we stay focused on the client conversation,” he concluded.
AlphaLoan is also using its database more deliberately. The team can segment contacts by occupation or client need and communicate with a more relevant group, instead of sending the same message to everyone.
After 20 years, Graeme knows the mortgage market will keep changing. Salestrekker 2.0 gives his team the visibility, consistency and capacity to respond, while the personal relationships that built AlphaLoan remain firmly in Graeme’s hands.
